Frozen Forests in Finland

10 fascinating photos

Finnish Lapland is known around the world primarily as the birthplace of Santa Claus. However, in this wonderful edge has another unique feature – a forest, which in the winter turns into totally unrealistic, mysterious figure.

Photographer Niccoló Bonfadini, who is based in Monza, Italy, was in the Lapland when he chanced across these trees being seized by ice in sub-zero temperatures of -40°C to -15°C. Us? We’re simply blown away by the shots he ended up taking of these trees held captive by the unyielding winter.
