Methane bubbles so fiercely in some of Alaska’s lakes that it keeps them ice free during the winter while the rest of the lake can have 3 to 4 ft of ice.

NOTE: This was shot at Wild Lake, which is 90 miles north of the Arctic Circle, but residents don’t want us to use the name of the lake. This happens throughout Alaksa, not just on Wild Lake.
